You will serve as a Maintenance Mechanic Leader in the Public Works Department of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

Serves as working leader over at least three trades and crafts employees, and as coordinator/team lead between supervisor and teams of employees Passes on instructions to the team from the supervisor. Ensures the assignment of tasks is commensurate with the skills and knowledge of personnel. Provides safety guidance to team members. Ensures needed materials and tools are available. Reports to supervisor on status and progress of work and causes for work delays. Answers questions from the supervisor on overall work operations and problems. Utilizes journey level trade skills in at least two of the following: Electrician, AC Mechanic, Heating/Ventilation or Industrial Equipment Mechanic, Welder, Sheet Metal or Electronics Mechanic. May be required to perform maintenance work in other trades such as, Carpentry, Plumbing, Machining, Masonry, or Painting. Skill in interpreting building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering, drawings, and maintenance and repair manuals to plan; lay out the work and skill to use trade formulas to calculate common properties. Skill in the use of hand tools applicable to the trade, e.g., power tools, such as cable pullers, hydraulic benders, and pipe threading machines. The work may require knowledge of mechanical, electromechanical, and pneumatic principles and a working knowledge of electronics to repair and maintain power systems and associated auxiliary and pollution control equipment. Thorough knowledge of automatic and semi- automatic management systems that use manual, electric, electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical controls. Skills with a variety of test equipment, e.g., meggers, multimeters, frequency and watt meters, and testing systems (signal generators/tracers, oscilloscopes, etc.). Have an in-depth experience, skill, knowledge, training and journey level ability to perform as a team leader and work independently on assigned projects. Ensures team is instructed on work requirements, sequence, procedures, and deadlines to be met. Ensures that safety and housekeeping rules are followed, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: -Leads and works alongside a work crew of Maintenance Mechanics with at least one Maintenance Mechanic graded at WG-10 level. -Works from building plans, wiring diagrams, drawings or equipment manuals. -Responsible for planning and laying out the placement and arrangement of industrial or similarly complex systems, circuits, controls, and equipment. -Skill in the use of hand tools applicable to the trade, e.g., power tools, such as cable pullers, and pipe threading machines; and a wide variety of test equipment. -Skill in interpreting building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering, drawings, and maintenance and repair manuals to plan and lay out the work and skill to use trade formulas to calculate common properties. -Responsible for planning and laying out the placement and arrangement of industrial or similarly complex systems, circuits, controls, and equipment. Determines installations and repairs. -Responsible for safe and proper operation of systems and equipment. **NOTE** This information must be clearly supported in your resume.
