About the Position: The position is located at U.S. Army Garrison-Miami, part of the Installation Management Command (IMCOM), which is dedicated to providing Service members and their families a high quality of life and ensuring good stewardship in our host community.
Duties
Serve as Security Assistant at the Visitor Control Center, responsible for control procedures for a multi-mission military installation during all Force Protection levels.
Control, prepare, issue identification badges, cards, and passes that allow access of civilian, military, contractor personnel, and visitors on to the installation.
Maintain a variety of files, access control registers, databases, and installation access denial approved packets, and records to provide control of sensitive information maintained.
Research Federal, State, and local security laws, regulations and directives to ensure compliance of force protection issues.
Operate and maintains various items of access control equipment and automated systems to include computer equipment used in the identification and registration process.
Analyze system results and recommend the best course of action to promote the effectiveness and efficiency of the system.
Provide office automation support to the Security Office by providing word-processing, database management, email, and related functions in support of the staff.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.
- Shift work is required, or a change in work shift may be necessary. Hours of work encompass fluctuating tours of duty to include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) utilizing office automation systems to query databases for various information; (2) reviewing provided documents for validity; AND (3) providing information and assistance to visitors. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Education
