Duties

This position serves as a Fleet/Property team lead in the High Plains District within the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). This position performs a full range of work functions in the maintenance and management of fleet/vehicles, tracking and maintaining property, and warehouse organization and management within the District.

Qualifications

GS7: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 level which includes but is not limited too: Strong organizational skills. Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records. Knowledge and skill in the use of software and keyboarding for data entry, email, and report generation, especially Microsoft software. Skill in the use of standard computers and office equipment. Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing). The ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Superior work ethic and a positive, "can do" attitude. Be self-motivated and take initiative. Strong customer service skills. Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a warehouse environment. Ability to operate a forklift. -OR- Education: 1 year of graduate-level education - OR- Superior Academic Achievement (See OPM's General Policies, Application of Qualification Standards Section 4.f.) S.A.A. must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate graduate education. Graduate level education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Physical Demands: The physical requirements are those generally associated with an office or warehouse environment. The work requires sitting, standing, bending, walking, driving, and occasionally lifting and moving supplies and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. The incumbent operates a variety of motor vehicles and forklifts. Situations can be expected to dictate working out in the open or in less comfortable surroundings and a variety of field locations. Work Environment: Work is normally performed in an office or warehouse setting. Incumbent may be required to be out of doors in unfavorable conditions relating supply, real and personal property, warehouse, and fleet management duties.

Education

This position has a positive education requirement which requires that you have a degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, or a combination of education and experience---courses equivalent to a major, as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
