This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Office of Field Operations - Region VIII in Casper, WY. The Outreach and Marketing Specialist will work with assigned groups, organizations and partners whose constituents, and/or member may benefit from the use of SBA programs and services.
Duties
With assistance build and maintain a local network of collaborative partnerships: economic development practitioners in Federal, state, regional and local government, chambers of commerce, business and trade associations, financial institutions, educational institutions and civic/community organizations.
Participate in representing the SBA at a variety of public functions through outreach/presentations/trainings in order to educate the small business, lender and contracting community and media about SBA programs and services, and other small business-relevant topics.
Participate in or lead less complex projects to accomplish outreach events and will be expected to collaborate with others on the team and other resources to ensure that the projects are successful.
With assistance conducts training in alignment with organizational policies and goals.
Assist in conducting program evaluations, as well as monitoring awardee performance, ensuring that grantees comply with terms and conditions of award.
Performs other duties as assigned.
This position is developmental to GS-11, and in that developmental capacity utilizes the basic knowledge learned and applies to the regular and recurring less difficult OMS work in the District office, referring the complex to a higher-level OMS.
Promotion to the full performance level is neither guaranteed nor implied and will be based solely on your ability to satisfactorily perform the work of the position, existing work at the higher grade level, and recommendation by the position's supervisor.
Local market duties will be assigned based on strengths of applicant and need of district.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen
- You must successfully complete a background investigation.
- You may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
- A valid driver's license (VDL) is required for this position.
Qualifications
GS-09: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector that includes ALL of the following:
Marketing through outreach, training, and education to various organizations; and
Participating in outreach, training, presentations and education on a variety of business management and financial management topics; and
Providing support to senior staff to maintain alliances and partnerships with a variety of partners.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education may be substituted for experience for this position.

GS-09: Successful completion of a Master's or equivalent degree related to the position being filled (e.g. business, finance, accounting), or 2 years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

Combination of Experience and Education:
GS-09: Combination of education and experience as specified above. For example, an applicant who has 1.0 full year of Masters level education (i.e. 50% of education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position.
