About the Position: The Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security identifies, manages and coordinates the required resources for training to include land and airspace management; conducts operations to execute missions directed by higher headquarters in support of plans and policies.

Duties

Work under the general supervision of the Chief, Air Traffic Control (ATC) Maintenance who assigns responsibility for overall objectives and priorities. Operate a motor vehicle in order to access Remote Transmitter/Receiver Sites (RTR)as well as regular visits to equipment sites. Responsible for overall operation, maintenance, repair, modification, reliability, certification and accuracy of a broad spectrum of highly complex navigational, surveillance, automation, communication equipment, and other related systems. Make independent decisions and judgments for the resolution of equipment problems and seeks help only on the very difficult or unique problems or those that require deviation from policy or command guidelines.

Requirements

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain certification(s) for an Information Assurance Technical Level Two (IAT-II) within 6 months of employment and maintain the required certification/recertification.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This is an obligated position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.
  • This is a Term position scheduled to last 3 years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.
  • Term employment is subject to a one year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.

Such systems include Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System, Interim Voice Switch Replacement, Digital Airport Surveillance Radar, General Dynamics transmitters and receivers with Remote Transmitter/Receiver Sites, Fixed Base Precision Approach Radar, Omni-Directional Range, National Air Space Voice Recorder, and Flight Data Input/Output. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to DetailComputers and ElectronicsTechnical CompetenceTechnology Application Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
