This position is located in the Management Directorate, Office of Chief Information Officer, IT Field Services Division. As a Supervisory Information Technology Specialist (System Administration), you will be responsible for performing and supervising work that involves the planning, design, and implementation of new and improved software applications to meet USCIS business needs.

Duties

Incumbent performs a wide range of supervisory duties such as planning work; assigning and evaluating work; interviewing candidates for positions and recommending appointments. Ensures continuity in operations and the rigorous application of information management/information security, and practices in the delivery of planning and management services. Serve as lead for projects, tasks, working groups, and daily activities with responsibility for analyzing, managing, or performing work necessary to develop, acquire, document, test, integrate, maintain, or modify. Provides technical guidance, services, technologies, advice, and recommendations to federal and contractor IT professionals maintaining USCIS systems, networks, and connectivity. Serves as a leader or member on various committees and working groups, as well as ad-hoc groups convened by USCIS offices. Reviews, prepares and coordinates correspondence, reports, memoranda, directives, regulations, policies and procedures pertaining to assigned technical areas.

Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. GS-14: You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Applying new methods to resolve complex and/or intricate, controversial, or unprecedented issues and problems, and resolves conflicts that arise. Utilizing knowledge of an organization's programs, mission goals, objectives, and relationships with other government and private entities. Planning and coordinating the design, development, testing, installation, and support of new and modified systems including hardware and software. Using initiative and resourcefulness in deviating from traditional methods or researching trends and patterns to develop improved methods and approaches or to propose new policies. Providing written and oral reports, with conclusions, alternatives, and recommendations on national policies, projects, or studies. Devising and planning projects to satisfy specific objectives, using judgment to assess broad guidelines and develop mechanisms to evaluate and incorporate significant advancements or trends in information management, systems, and technologies.
