You will serve as a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC in the NAVAL SCHOOL EXPLOSIVE ORDNANCE DISPOSAL of NAV SCHOOL EXPLOSIVE ORDNANCE DISPOSAL.
Duties
You will Interpret guidelines (e.g., blueprints, diagrams, sketches, technical specifications) to complete facilities maintenance and repair work (e.g., roofing, painting, woodcraft, carpentry, structural).
You will determine tools needed to complete maintenance and repair of buildings, structures, fencing, landscaping, storm drains, roads, or other facilities.
You will inspect utility and disposal systems to determine conformance to standards or to locate leaks and other defects.
You will select materials to perform carpentry work to verify fit, dimensions, structural integrity, and other required objectives are met.
You will set up electrical systems equipment by arranging the required materials (e.g., wiring, conduits, couplings, fittings, relays, boxes, circuit breakers) to verify safe operation.
You will use close tolerance measuring devices and tools (e.g., voltmeters, ammeters, multimeters, vacuum and acid pumps, pressure gauges, humidity recorders, micrometers, calipers, soldering equipment) to repair and test equipment.
You will determine types of equipment (e.g., tools, parts, materials) needed for installation and repair of plumbing systems.
You will use basic tools (e.g., impact wrenches, sockets, torque wrenches, brake tools, screwdrivers) to assist in making repairs or modifications to landscaping equipment.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
