The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as the Readiness Program Specialist for the Operations Group managing a program which includes base plans review, mobility, warrior skills training, deployment processing, preparation of the Status of Resources and Training System report and Air Expeditionary Force (AEF) plans.
Duties
Plans, develops, implements and monitors programs related to the Operations Group (OG) contingency and mobility taskings.
Serves as the focal point for the OG readiness training and manages wartime and mobility personnel/equipment.
Represents the 47th Operations Group with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with higher-ranking managers, supervisors, and staff of other work units and activities throughout the installation and command.
Supervises the work activities of two or three Assistant Deployment Managers. Manages coordination, inventory, and inspection of weapons/munitions.
Uses varied functions of multiple office automation software to produce a wide range of documents, reports, presentations, etc.

- This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
- Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays. Must be available for recall to duty station on short notice in support of war/ emergency/ exercise operations.
- Required to be certified and qualified to carry a firearm.
- Employee may be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft/ vehicle to accomplish temporary duty away from the normal duty station.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions, Miscellaneous Administration and Program Series, 0301.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of entire Operations Group requirements in support of AEF including understanding of, and ability to use, the AEFC ART web-based tool, ability to analyze situational data that directly impacts unit readiness in support of AEF tasking and ability to coordinate with and make recommendations to internal senior leadership and outside organizations. Knowledge and skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods to issues or studies concerning the efficiency and effectiveness of program operations. Practical knowledge and understanding of the mission, functions, and organization of AETC and subordinate units in order to recognize needs for improvement in operating practices and offer viable solutions to problems identified. Knowledge of computer software and databases used to update, revise, and retrieve data or to prepare reports.

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of transcripts.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of Operations Group requirements in support of AEF including understanding of, and ability to use the Air Force Aerospace Expeditionary Force Unit Tasking Code Reporting Tool (ART).
2. In-depth knowledge of the unit deployment program in order to recognize need for improvement in operating practices and offer viable solutions to problems identified.
3. Must be able to retain a comprehensive knowledge of Air Force, MAJCOM, and installation directives governing readiness programs to plan and manage activities/processes. Required to use analytical and evaluative methods to develop and defend recommendations and findings.
4. Skill in planning and executing readiness, contingency and mobility programs and providing advice and technical guidance to commanders.
5. Ability to use various software programs, tools, and techniques to support operations and produce a variety of documents, such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. Ability to plan, organize work and meet deadlines.
6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to prepare and present briefings, unit status reports, and explain operating procedures.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
