THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a IT Specialist (Customer Support) (Title 32) (Temporary Not to Exceed One Year), Position Description Number D2525P0 and is part of the VA G6, National Guard.
Duties
As an IT Specialist (Customer Support) (Title 32), GS-2210-09, you will perform the below duties:
This is a developmental position. The next full performance target level (FPL) for this career ladder assignment is Information Technology Specialist (CUSTSPT) GS-2210-11, D2526P01. The incumbent performs GS-2210-09 duties under closer than normal supervision. Must complete at least 12 months of specialized work experiences at this grade to successfully achieve the GS-2210-11 competency. The GS-2210-09 position task assignments become progressively more difficult until the target level GS-2210-11 is reached.
Performs the basic duties and has the basic responsibilities as described in the GS-2210-11 position description; however, detailed assistance, guidance, and support from the supervisors and co-workers are provided, as required, until statutory and performance requirements for advancement to the next higher level are met.
Receives formal and/or on-the-job instructions designed to familiarize incumbent with the functions and operations of the program area and work responsibility. Incumbent is provided practical experience in the application of related knowledge and applies professional and/or management theory, principles, and practices to complete the assigned work.
Performs other duties as assigned.

- This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

Qualifications

WHO CAN APPLY:
GROUP I - All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E1/PV1-E9/SGM) or a Warrant Officer (W1/WO1 - W4/CW4) or a Commissioned Officer (O1/2LT - O3/CPT) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Army National Guard Military Technician Program.
GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Army National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E1/PV1-E9/SGM) or a Warrant Officer (W1/WO1 - W4/CW4) or a Commissioned Officer (O1/2LT - O3/CPT) regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period.
Group III - Individuals eligible for membership in the Virginia Army National Guard.
Military Grades: Enlisted Personnel (E1/PV1-E9/SGM) or a Warrant Officer (W1/WO1 - W4/CW4) or a Commissioned Officer (O1/2LT - O3/CPT)
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have Experience, education or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enables understanding the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have at least 12 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-07 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as:
Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment.
Experience scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency.
Experience in analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system.
Basic knowledge of postage operations and procedures; Ability to lift bags and bulk packages; Ability to stand, walk and carry packages up to 50 lbs.
