The position is located in the department of Veteran Affairs, Veterans Health Association (VHA) at the Huntington VA Medical Center in the Health administrations Service under transportation section. The primary position is to service as the travel coordinator responsible for overall planning, coordination, implementation, scheduling, management and evaluation of clinical applications of patient transportation with particular emphasis on improving and facilitating care.
Duties
Major Duties May Include:
The incumbent demonstrates flexibility, integrity and accountability with a work ethic that emphasizes excellence and quality.
Responsible to review for accuracy and process beneficiary travel claims for the purpose of reimbursement of veterans for travel to and from the VA and community care veteran appointments.
Reviews eligibility of each Veteran before finalizing beneficiary travel reimbursement.
Compile and submit daily clerk reports summarizing all vouchers processed.
Coordinates routes/scheduled based on planned and unplanned maintenance on veteran transport vehicles ensuring adherence to eligibility rules.
Ensures all trips are properly logged and closed with veteran transportation system software in order to ensure accurate reporting and statistics are reported to management and national program office.
Communicates and interacts with patients and their family members in a manner which is appropriate to cognitive, emotional chronological maturation needs of the adult geriatric patient.
Contacts approving official to authorize obligations and request for additions, deductions, and or movement of funds.
Work Schedule: 8am-4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/19/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
