National Defense University (NDU) supports the joint warfighter by providing rigorous Joint Professional Military Education to members of the U.S. Armed Forces and select others in order to develop leaders who have the ability to operate and creatively think in an unpredictable and complex world.
Duties
Provides program analysis support for the University and its subordinate activities concerning Continental United States (CONUS) and Non Continental United States (NONCONUS) travel.
Serves as the Travel Administrator and primary point of contact for the automated travel system, Defense Travel System (DTS), and develops Standard Operating Procedures on travel functions and program operations.
Performs management surveys to determine compliance with agency regulations, procedures and practices to evaluate University functions and activities for recommending improvements in resource (staff, funding, and equipment) utilization.
Provides technical guidance to the NDU staff, faculty, students and visitors concerning official Temporary Duty (TDY) and Permanent Change of Station (PCS) travel.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National
- Required to obtain/maintain a Financial Management Level 2 Certificate in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012.
- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- Obtain/maintain Secret security clearance.
Qualifications
You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the that of the next lower grade GS-09 for GS-11 and GS-11 for GS-12 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized Experience is defined as:
For the GS-11: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-09 if outside the Federal service. Specialized experience must be documented in your resume. Specialized experience is defined as experience with travel programs; and reviewing, preparing or updating travel orders.
For the GS-12: You must have one year of sspecialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-11 if outside the Federal service. Specialized experience must be documented in your resume. Specialized experience is defined as experience providing program analysis support concerning travel; and developing required data for use in the direction of the program; and developing standard operating procedures on travel functions and program operations.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
GS-11 SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M.
Education is not substitutable for specialized experience for the GS-12 grade level.
