About the Position: This position is for Operations Research Analyst, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army Cost and Economics, Cost Management Division located at Pentagon/Arlington, VA.

Duties
Perform studies/analyses conducted in relation to mission costs.
Develops cost models for assigned programs in support of the PPBES.
Provide expert advice in interpreting policy, guidance, and objectives as established by the Division, DA and OSD.
Analyze new methods for new or unusual applications.
Provides technical support in the application of operations research techniques and methodologies to studies of systems, strategies, procedures, and evaluation methodologies.
Providing expertise and advice on program planning and policy making functions covering a broad range of mathematical, statistical, or scientific programs
Develop, testing, and advising on theoretical concepts and new or improved technologies and methods.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance is required throughout employment.
- This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for BUSINESS - COST ESTIMATING Advanced Certification within 48 months of entrance on duty.
- Business Travel of up to 5% may be required.
- One year probationary period may be required.

Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst:
Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
GS 13: To qualify for the GS-14 level, all applicants must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-13):
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Utilizing research methods and techniques to support cost and economic analyses of Defense Acquisition Programs AND 2) Providing technical guidance on statistical or operations research concepts as they apply to cost and economic analysis studies; AND 3) Applying analytical techniques and methodologies in mathematics, statistics, economics, or operations research, AND 4) Preparing and presenting briefings and reports for executive level management review.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
