This position is located within the U.S. Department of State (DOS), Office of Inspector General (OIG), which has statutory oversight responsibility covering the Department, the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), and the International Boundary and Water Commision (IBWC). OIG is responsible for conducting and reporting on inspections, evaluations, investigations, audits, and special inquiries involving all overseas and domestic Department programs and operations.
Duties
Execute investigations, develop investigative plans, make decisions, and lead complex criminal investigations.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.
- Must serve a one-year probationary period unless excepted by regulation.
- Incumbent must meet the firearms criteria based on PL 102-296, Sec 812.
- Incumbent must be able to carry a firearm under the Lautenberg Amendment.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain/maintain a valid state driver's license.
- Selectee must pass a pre-employment law enforcement medical exam.
- Annual Financial Disclosure (OGE-450) required pre-employment and annually.
Qualifications
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience planning, organizing, and conducting difficult and complex criminal investigations.
Experience evaluating information reported through junior investigators.
Experience coordinating investigative and prosecutive activities with Federal, state and local agencies.
Experience conducting arrest and search warrants.
Experience writing detailed reports of findings to be used in criminal, administrative or civil proceedings.
Experience testifying to investigative findings.
Experience in training/coaching junior members of team.
Skilled in planning and evaluating short- and long-range training goals.
Experience in evaluating junior members of team in performance of law enforcement duties.
Education
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-14 position.
