You will serve as an ENGINEER in the Combat Systems Test and Evaluation Department of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.

Duties

You will provide technical support for Littoral Combat Ship (LCS). You will be responsible for planning, executing and reporting on Developmental Test (DT)/Operational Test (OT)/Combat System Ships Qualification Trails (CSSQT), and other test events for Combat Systems in LCS, and other Combat Systems. You will generate system plans, procedures, reports, provides technical expertise for analysis of these systems. You will identify test equipment requirements and oversees setup and interconnection of test equipment and test system. You will provide on-site representation for Program Office, NSWC PHO and act as the single point of contact for Test and Evaluation events. You will provide leadership in program planning and technical direction which includes test planning, test conduct and execution, data analysis, test reporting and specific technical knowledge of the combat weapon system under test. You will provide technical services toward establishing, maintaining and improving test and evaluation products and services and is applicable to current and future combat weapon system test and evaluation assignments. You will serve as the NSWC PHO representative at land based system integration and test facilities, contractor facilities, aboard ship, Department of Defense organizations, Washington, D.C. and elsewhere.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-03 (GS-09/11 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: As a professional engineer planning, executing, and reporting on developmental and operational tests to provide technical expertise and ensure effective integration and evaluation for the improvement or enhancement of a combat weapons system. Education

Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above)

OR

Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
