The Battle Creek VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Supply Technician. The Supply Technician will function under the Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service.
Duties
The duties of the position may include but, are not limited to:
Serves as Supply Technician for the Prosthetic Sensory Aid Service (PSAS) with responsibility for analyzing and processing inventory items that are in the Item Master File (IMF).
Primary duties consist of using APAT (Advanced Prosthetics Acquisition Tool) to stock issue directly to veterans record and coordinating the receiving and delivery of inventory from Supply Chain.
The incumbent will also collaborate with Inventory Manager and Supply Chain partners, assuring compliance with storage requirements, inventory control through monthly reconciliation in GIP (Generic Inventory Package) and PIP (Prosthetic Inventory Package)
Incumbent must be familiar with all items carried in the IMF/APAT/GIP/PIP and maintain adequate stock to satisfy the recurring requirements of outpatients without creating excess quantities.
The Supply technician has multiple responsibilities for managing daily suspense per the Business Practice Guidelines for consult management, stock issues, along with related tasks and duties.
The position requires initiating action to returns for credit, exchange or transfer inventory items.
Incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the maintaining of the PIP/GIP and NPPD (National Prosthetic Patient Database) in accordance with standards in IFCAP for items maintained in PSAS inventory.
Participates in monthly spot check inventories to validate computer records with actual stock on hand. Prepares inventory adjustments with valid justifications to provide reviewing officials with information to follow audits for accountability.
The incumbent analyzes stock level and usage schedules to determine funds required and execution of the budget plans for assigned inventory.
The incumbent uses a wide range of well-established and commonly applied supply principles, procurement options, concepts and methodologies to evaluate status of funds available to execute annual supply program.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 07/22/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Thorough knowledge of assembling of stock walkers and manual wheelchairs provided by the VA (to include rollators) and mechanisms involved with manual wheelchairs. Knowledge of VA automated computer systems and software, including CPRS, VISTA, APAT, GIP/PIP and NPPD used to account for inventories so that input is correct and output from the computer can be reviewed, analyzed and revised as necessary. Knowledge of the medical center's operations and program objectives so that seasonal demands and/or unusual trends can be anticipated.

Physical Requirements: In the course of normal day-to-day operation the work requires both sedentary and some physical exertion that requires some walking, stooping, lifting, carrying, stretching and bending is required. Employees sit at a computer while performing portions of the work; however, he/she is required to physically inventory primary and secondary locations throughout the medical center, and issue inventory from Prosthetics, in addition to stooping and bending while performing repair work. Incumbent will be required to lift and move products weighing up to 40lbs to and from the warehouse. The heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.
