About the Position: This position is located at Fort Novosel, Alabama, home of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Fort Novosel is located in the "Wiregrass" area in Southeast Alabama, surrounded by Enterprise, Ozark and Daleville. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Recreation activities are abundant in the immediate and surrounding areas for family and fun.
Duties
Provides clerical work supporting military personnel programs, including personnel manning, MOS/Medical Retention Board and reclassification, eMILPO Operations, reassignments, student management, transition services and casualty.
Utilize personal computers and software to include IPERMS, EDAS, TOPMIS, e-MILPO, and TRANSPROC to perform a variety of basic automated operations and functions related to military personnel operations.
Provide counseling and information to spouse of Army retirees, active duty and of terminally ill military personnel regarding benefits to which they may be entitled
Maintains, updates, and initiates actions pertaining to military personnel processing and services.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one- year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
- This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
- This position is designated as moderate risk involving Public Trust (Tier 1). Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation including a credit check to determine suitability for Federal employment and/or the position.
- Position may require performance of duties on the HURCON Evacuation Team or Mass Casualty Team.
- Overtime/Emergency overtime may be required.
- May be required to be on-call after duty hours.
- Performance of these duties shall require employee availability 24 hours a day 7 days per week.
- May require TDY travel 10% of the time.
- May require travel using military or commercial aircraft or vehicle.
- This position requires a valid state drivers license.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes military human resources regulations, policies, and procedures to perform assignment; initiating actions relating to military personnel processing; maintaining military personnel automated systems to enter and retrieve information.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).
