The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida's (USAO-SDFL) mission is to enforce and defend the laws of the United States of America through the prosecution of criminal cases brought by the Federal government; the prosecution and defense of civil cases in which the United States is a party; and the collection of debts owed to the Federal government that are administratively uncollectible.

Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team as a Legal Administrative Specialist- Litigation Support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of Florida, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Miami, Florida, focusing in the areas of litigation support. This position supports litigation teams by performing routine litigation support tasks necessary to prepare or manage electronic discovery, evidence, exhibits, and other electronically stored information relevant to investigations and casework. This is a career-ladder position. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progresses. Typical work assignments will include: Performing routine litigation support tasks necessary to process electronically stored information and preparing it for review or production by the litigation team. Using specialized software applications to perform processing tasks and meet the technical needs of litigation teams. Providing advice, customer support services, and project management services in connection with electronic discovery, litigation support projects, and litigation technology software applications. Providing technical assistance to litigation teams presenting or filing electronic evidence or exhibits in legal proceedings.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying: To qualify at the GS-07 level, you must possess: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-05 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing at minimum, (3) of the (4) duties listed below: Assisting with routine litigation support assignments (i.e., processing electronic files, performing basic document review, supporting case preparation and presentation). Communicating with litigation team about the status of litigation support projects. Utilizing litigation technology software to conduct litigation support assignments. Organizing and/or preparing electronic files for processing. OR one full year of graduate level education (at least 18 semester hours or the equivalent) in a field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work (You must submit transcripts); OR meet the requirements under the Superior Academic Achievement* provision below; OR a combination of the required experience and education for this grade level. Applicants must possess a percentage of the required specialized experience and graduate level education such that, when the percentages of the required graduate level education and specialized experience are added together, they equal 100% (You must submit transcripts). *SUPERIOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT (SAA): Must have gained a bachelor's in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. S.A.A. is based on (1) Class standing-applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class, based on completed courses; or (2) Grade-Point Average-applicants must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (3) Election to membership in a National Scholastic Honor Society - membership in a freshman honor society cannot be used to meet the requirements of this provision. To qualify at the GS-09 level, you must possess: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-07 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing at minimum, (3) of the (4) duties listed below: Collaborating in the development of a plan for the production and processing of electronic files. Advising case teams on use of applications for presenting evidence or producing demonstrative exhibits. Ensuring litigation support projects are completed according to litigation team and industry standards, specifications, and deadlines. Collaborating in the preparation of demonstrative exhibits and/or training materials for litigation technology applications. OR a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree; or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related. (You must submit transcripts) OR a combination of the required experience and education for this grade level. Applicants must possess a percentage of the required specialized experience and graduate level education such that, when the percentages of the required graduate level education and specialized experience are added together, they equal 100%.
