You will serve as a Planner and Estimator (Sheet Metal Mechanic (Aircraft)) in the Industrial Filed Service Branch, Air Frames Repair and Modification Division of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.
Duties
You will plan, estimate, and negotiate scope of work and workload requirements to support depot level repair requirements for external fleet activities.
You will prepare and issue detailed aircraft schedules and work directives to internal and external entities.
You will monitor employee-hour and material expenditures and initiate corrective action as necessary to ensure accomplishment of negotiated work within funds allocated and time frames established to minimize aircraft delay.
You will perform other duties as assigned.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain required certification and/or license as a condition of employment.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO PROVIDE PRODUCTION SERVICES, and includesthe following: 1) Applying working knowledge of the type of repairs required for various aircraft platforms/models/series; 2) Demonstrating job experience and understanding of aircraft rework procedures, methods of repair, and fabrication; 3) Reading blueprints to interpret involved technical data; 4) Effectively dealing with various levels of management from both internal and/or external organizational entities; 5) Formulating and implementing original action, visualizing trade processes, establishing precedent, and providing harmonious working relationships; and 6) Establishing various estimates on work content not previously accomplished. You work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
