Duties

This position serves as the Deputy Director of the Office on Trafficking in Persons (OTIP). Duties include: Ensures policies and programs are working in concert and are implemented in a way which ensures the psychological, sociological, and human service needs of victims of human trafficking, their families, and their communities are met efficiently and effectively. Develops and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external partners to identify areas of coordination and collaboration, including joint funding or sponsorships to effectively leverage resources in support of anti-trafficking efforts. Demonstrates leadership ability, discretion, and specialized technical knowledge in dealing with highly confidential, and/or controversial information to successfully implement anti-human trafficking initiatives and transfer that specialized knowledge into operational policies. Provides day-to-day leadership including planning and assigning work to align with short-term priorities, employee performance and development, and improve quality and productivity.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic AND Minimum Qualification requirements as noted below. Basic Requirement: You must meet one of the items listed below (A, B, or C): A. Possess a 4-year bachelor's or higher degree in behavioral or social science from an accredited college or university; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. (Must provide transcripts) B. Possess a combination of education and experience -- that provided you with the knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Must provide transcript) C. Possess four years of appropriate experience that demonstrates acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. AND Minimum Qualifications: GS-15: You must possess at least one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) that includes at least (4) of the (5) following: Providing effective leadership of anti-human trafficking programs to ensure the needs of victims of human trafficking, their families, and their communities are met efficiently and effectively; Supporting management operations, budget, and other general management activities; Developing partnerships with public health agencies to strategically align efforts to address trafficking as a public health concern and social determinant of health; Planning work to be accomplished, set, and adjust short-term priorities, and assign work based on priorities; Providing authoritative interpretation of policies governing refugee assistance programs or other public benefits and services available to victims of trafficking.
