About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.

Duties

Instruct formal NDT-RT method training courses in accordance with required standards in the methodology and application of NDT-RT Perform NDT-RT inspections to accept or reject work products Develop formal NDT-RT method training courses in accordance with required standards Support project engineers in developing test plans and inspection schedules Manage the NDT-RT program for employer in its entirety

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • TDY travel may occasionally be required.
  • GS-11: Must obtain and maintain NAS-410 Level 3 certification in Radiographic Testing.
  • GS-12: Must possess and maintain NAS-410 Level 3 certification in Radiographic Testing.
  • GS-11: Must obtain and maintain as certification AWS Certified Welding Inspector, Certified Welding Educator or Certified Welding Engineer.
  • GS-12: Must possess and maintain as certification AWS Certified Welding Inspector, Certified Welding Educator or Certified Welding Engineer.
  • GS-11: May be required to obtain and maintain certification as a qualified visual inspector in accordance with applicable Military Standard within two years.
  • GS-12: May be required to possess and maintain certification as a qualified visual inspector in accordance with applicable Military Standard within two years.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Facilities to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-11: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing Non-Destructive Testing - Radiographic Testing (Non-Film). I can obtain and maintain NAS-410 Level 3 or ASNT Level III certification in Radiographic Testing (Non-Film). I can obtain and maintain certification as an AWS Certified Welding Inspector, Certified Welding Educator or Certified Welding Engineer. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-09. GS-12: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing Non-Destructive Testing - Radiographic Testing (Non-Film).
