Duties
As a Lead Health Communications Specialist will:
Lead the coordination of emergency response communications by providing expert emergency risk communication technical assistance and advice to CIO divisions, partners, and other external organizations.
Provide counsel and expertise to program staff and management officials on communication and marketing principles and methods, and their application and evaluation.
Lead the team in identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees.
Prepare for emergency responses by conducting and learning from action reports, maintaining program and administrative reference materials, project files and relevant background documents and make available policies, procedures and best practices.
Monitor and report to supervisor on the status and progress of work, checking on work in progress and reviewing completed work to ensure priorities, methods, deadlines and quality have been met.
Lead the development, implementation, and management, of major national or international communication and marketing programs, projects, and strategies for the lay and professional audiences.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level, which must include the following experience: in developing and implementing emergency response communication strategies, tailoring messages and tactics to a variety of audiences, working with partners and other stakeholders to disseminate public health messaging, and promoting communication and marketing programs to improve health or public health outcomes.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
