You will serve as an ELECTRICIAN LEADER in the Production Resources, Pipe Shop of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will maintain current knowledge of Shop procedures.
You will be responsible for passing on to other non-nuclear or nuclear electrician's instructions.
You will be required to fill in for the supervisor during his/her absence.
You will check the work in progress and make sure personal protective equipment, safety practices and housekeeping rules are followed.
You will be required to be a Training Leader in the Shop for a period of time to share his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.
You will report disciplinary problems to shop supervision.
You will Instruct and advise Apprentices who appear to be falling behind in level of proficiency and suggest how improvement can be made.
You will perform other related duties as assigned.

- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
Qualifications

Instructing on memorandums, prints, proper work procedures and methods, and the use of tools and safety pertaining to shop trades skills.
Reading and interpreting sketches, blueprints, sketches, drawings and work orders.
Obtaining information or decisions from supervisor on problems that arise during the course of work being performed.
Working with Process Instructions pertaining to the assigned shop's electrical work.
Answering other worker questions pertaining to procedures, policies, written instructions, etc.
