This position serves as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist in the Anesthesiology Department within the Claremore Indian Hospital in Claremore, OK. The position reports to the Chief of Surgery.

Duties
Conduct pre-operative assessment of the surgical patient and documents evaluation.
Administer regional or general anesthesia to patients and manage patient conditions throughout surgery.
Ensure proper anesthesia recovery for patients.
Participate in emergency surgical cases and may manage code blue emergencies within the facility.
Work on regularly assigned rotational and/or call back basis during evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A graduate or higher level degree in nursing from an accredited educational program in the area of expertise or specialty - Anesthesiology. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools
License: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination AND posses a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Additional License Requirements for Advanced Practice Nurse Positions: Applicants for Advanced Practice Nurse positions must be licensed or registered by a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States in the clinical specialty required by the position - Anesthesiology.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
GS-13: Administer anesthesia and monitor patients through their surgeries; Complete physical assessments of each patient; Discuss the surgery and recovery with the patient prior to the procedure; Prepare and administer the patient-specific amount of anesthesia needed for the procedure; Maintain the patient's anesthesia levels during surgery; Ensure proper anesthesia recovery for patients until patients are transferred to care units; Perform and document the pre-anesthesia assessment and evaluation of the patient; Select, obtain, order, and administer preanesthetic medication or treatment; Select, obtain, prepare, and use equipment, invasive and non-invasive monitors, supplies, and drugs for the administration of sedation, anesthesia, and pain management services; perform safety checks as needed.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
