NASA's Office of Communications (OCOMM) seeks Lead Public Affairs Specialists to support the Artemis campaign and Moon to Mars public communications. The specialists, integrating across OCOMM functions, will develop strategies, plans, and products in various mediums and digital platforms spotlighting NASA activities. Work includes leading storytelling, messaging, visuals development, partnership cultivation, supporting engagement events, and serving as a spokesperson.

Duties

Plans, initiates, implements, and supports comprehensive communication plans, including storytelling and supporting visuals, that enhance understanding of agency Artemis and Moon to Mars activities among the public and groups or organizations. Develops, edits, and disseminates agency products on various communication platforms and channels based on Associated Press Style and NASA Style to the public or specialized target groups domestic and international. Advises NASA management on possible public and media reactions to proposed policy statements or agency actions. Establishes and maintains internal and external relationships, supports establishing and maintaining partnerships supporting Artemis and Moon to Mars, and serves as an agency spokesperson. Supports the development and implementation of detailed events to ensure coordination of program activities with colleagues in various Office of Communication divisions, across mission directorates, offices, and NASA centers. Develops and stays current on NASA strategic communication Artemis and Moon to Mars messaging and goals to engage more effectively with the public and media and enhance understanding. Fosters a culture of engagement, diversity, inclusiveness, excellence and innovation. Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-15,you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level: Planning, integrating, executing, and evaluating a public affairs/communications program; Advising other public affairs specialists and top managers and decision-makers on important national and/or international issues; Planning and developing communication products, messaging, and conducting special events intended for the public, news media, social media and the web; Providing full service public affairs support, such as writing and editing documents ensuring technical accuracy.
