The primary purpose of this position is to lead other mechanics in the repair, modification, testing, troubleshooting, alignment, calibration, overhauling, and inspection of electrical/environmental and integrated avionics equipment.
Duties
Leads three or more employees by passing on instructions received from the supervisor and getting the work started
Leads work related to the pretesting, operational (functional) testing, and final testing of electronic systems, components, or subassemblies
Leads the performance of overhaul, repair, fabrication, or modification of integrated electronic systems, components or subassemblies. Leads the performance of overhaul, repair, fabrication, or modification of environmental servicing systems, components or subassemblies
Leads performance of the final tuning, alignment, or calibration of electronic systems, components, or subassemblies
Leads workforce in the utilization of safety practices and procedures. Leads in the control of tools and equipment

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-2600 Electronic Equipment Installation and Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of an Electronic Integrated Systems Mechanic Leader, WL-2610-12, without more than normal supervision.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Ability to read, understand, interpret and implement technical data dealing with highly complex integrated electronic systems and equipment
Ability to use tools, equipment and materials safely. Ability to operate a computer.
Ability to clean work area and /or jobsite upon completion of work
Knowledge of tools, equipment and materials accounting and security. Knowledge of safety requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations and technical orders
Skill in the use of standard hand and power tools of the trade
Skill in the selection of testing equipment
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires standing and working in awkward positions for long periods of time, bending, crawling, and working in tight places. The employee occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 75 pounds and occasionally moves heavier objects with assistance of mechanical devices.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is usually performed inside. The employee is subject to burns, chemical irritations, shocks, bruises, cuts, and strains. Safety equipment includes safety shoes, safety glasses, and other personal protective equipment.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
