GS-9 The primary purpose of this position is to be a developmental position with known promotion potential to the target position of Human Resources Specialist (Military) GS-0201-11. Duties

Summary Continued GS-11 The primary purpose of this position is to serve as program manager providing pre-board, in-board, and post board execution pertaining to Special Selection Boards (SSBs), Special Selection Review Boards (SSRBs), and Special Boards (SBs) for all Department of the Air Force (USAF and USSF) officers in the grades of captain through major general. Duties Administers and prepares cases involving legal or material error for execution of SSBs, SSRBs, and SBs Primary Selection Board Secretariat program administrator for electronic Board Operations Support System (eBOSS) for SSBs, SSRBs, and SBs and in the absence of the primary eBOSS administrator for Central Selection Boards, serves as the program administrator for eBOSS during Central Selection Boards Certified Board Recorder Administers the DAF MOI Library

  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays

  • In-depth knowledge of various office automation software processing procedures and function keys to produce a wide range of documents, such as graphics or tables within a text and to edit and reformat electronic drafts is highly desired
  • In-depth knowledge of various office automation software processing procedures and function keys to update and revise existing databases or spreadsheets is highly desired

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, 0201 Series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-7, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include 1) Applying basic knowledge of the principles, theories, techniques, practices, mission, and organizational structures of military to assist in supporting the military personnel and promotions programs. 2) Providing knowledge of the laws, regulations, principles, and practices of military personnel and promotion programs. 3) Using basic knowledge of military personnel and promotion program requirements and terms, as well as knowledge of common management principles to provide advisory services and execute assigned programs. 4) Adapting analytical techniques and criteria to assist in executing and improving program effectiveness, and in serving as a technical specialist regarding military personnel and promotion programs. 5) Meeting non-adjustable deadlines and adapting to changing program requirements with minimum sacrifice to quality or quantity of work. 6) Establishing effective working relationships and communicating well with others, orally and in writing, including preparing and conducting formal and informal briefings, official notifications, and other correspondence. OR EDUCATION: Applicants have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Applicants have a combination of specialized experience and education as described above. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-7 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-9 level. One year at the GS-9 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBERS: The VOW Act requires federal agencies to treat an eligible active duty service member as a veteran, disabled veteran, and preference eligible (as applicable) when applying for civil service positions before the effective release or discharge date. Appointment of military members before the release or discharge date is permissible if the member is on terminal leave. At the time the active duty member applies for a civil position, he or she must submit a "certification" memo in lieu of a DD-Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty. Active duty members applying for a civil service position without submitting a valid certification memo or DD-Form 214 with their application will render the member ineligible for the position. The certification memo must originate from the member's military service branch on official letterhead and contain the following:

  • Branch of Armed Forces
  • Dates of Active Service (Start and End Date(s)
  • Expected Date of Discharge/Release from Active Duty
  • Terminal leave start date (if applicable)
