Duties

In this position, you will be responsible for information management, situational awareness, command and control in a pivotal policy role from day one.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • The applicant is subject to pre-appointment and random drug testing.
  • Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • This position requires a Secret clearance.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • A final offer of employment is contingent upon a negative drug test result.

Qualifications

You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one of the following:A. One year of specialized experience at the GS-09 grade level or equivalent that demonstrates the Collecting initial information to classify search and rescue (SAR) cases and begin case documentation; Providing tracking and other sensor information to support missions; Providing course and speed information to response assets to coordinate arrivals at a particular point; and writing final situation reports about search and rescue (SAR) cases.ORB. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degreeOR3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degreeORLL.M., if relatedORC. A combination of successfully completed equivalent education and experience. This will be calculated using your resume and unofficial transcripts or a list of courses/course hours submitted with your application.Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

This position does not have a positive education requirement. If you are including education on your resume, report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
