About the Position: This position is located with the National Guard Bureau Joint Staff, Army National Guard Trial Defense Services, Virginia. About the Surrounding Area: Situated in Northern Virginia on the south bank of the Potomac River directly across from Washington D.C. Arlington is headquarters to many departments and agencies of the federal government, including the Department of Defense and is the location of many national memorials and museums.

Duties

Provide supervisory support to the field paralegals in case preparation, legal research, document drafting, case management and logistical support for clients with cases in military criminal and administrative proceedings. Provide related administrative, legal and logistical support pursuant to the Army National Guard Trial Defense Service program. Oversee the day to day administrative operations and support for the Army National Guard Trial Defense Service program.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with the direction and development of paralegal and administrative activities for a program similar to the Army National Guard Trial Defense Services; discussing defense services resource availability; making decisions on work problems presented by subordinates; administering policies and procedures for administrative and military justice matters that may impact military operations; administering a records management system for legal records; coordinating travel which includes legal and travel briefs; assisting attorneys in maintaining military personnel, professional, privileged legal representation; preparing charts, briefings, and/or reports where data has been collected to identify relevant information for legal proceedings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to DetailLeadershipOrganizational Awareness Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
