This vacancy is for a Strategic Communications Advisor position in the Associate Director for Demographic Programs located at the U.S. Census Bureau HQ in Suitland, MD. The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line - Suitland Station.

Duties
Serves as a communications strategist and expert advisor to senior management and the staff in the Directorate.
Provides advice and guidance on communication strategy development, execution, and measurement.
Develops and implements a comprehensive and effective internal communication strategy and program.
Ensures Demographic Directorate employees remain informed of mission, programs, priorities, decisions, and activities.
Serves as a project coordinator for communication-related program initiatives.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: Developing key messages; working with various communication tools; utilizing communication tools to deliver messages; creating and implementing communication strategies; working with senior management and stakeholders on communications-related activities; and developing and advising on strategies, policies, and implementation plans to maintain optimum organizational performance.
Education: Education cannot be substituted at this grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
