Duties
Supervises a team responsible for design and production of data charts, infographics, flyers, reports, brochures, posters, exhibits, PowerPoint presentations, branding materials, and photographs for a variety of communication mediums.
Applies the principles of visual design and knowledge of the technical characteristics associated with various methods of visual display.
Presents subject matter information and data in a visual form that will convey the intended message to audience.
Reviews all graphics material for accuracy.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: Planning and presenting communications strategies to senior leaders and customers of an organization; creating content for various types of designs, including data visualization design (infographics, interactive data visualizations, news graphics, and maps), print design, publishing design (reports, magazines, covers, newsletters, and electronic publications layout and design), branding design (guidelines, logos, and business cards), website design, and environmental design (banners and displays); leading and managing teams including assigning and reviewing the work of subordinates and providing constructive feedback; recommending appropriate actions for hiring, promotions, discipline, and training.
Education: Education cannot be substituted at this grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
