Duties

The individual selected for this position serves as Confidential Assistant to the Commissioner, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). You would perform a variety of highly critical and confidential assignments in connection with various matters with which the Commissioner is personally concerned. The position requires an intimate knowledge of the views, plans, and interest of the Commission and a personal, confidential relationship of trust between the Commissioner and you, which means exercising considerable tact, careful judgment, and discretion.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • A background investigation is required.
  • This is not a bargaining unit position.
  • Generally, male applicants must be registered with the Selective Service.
  • Relocation expenses will not be paid.
  • You may be required to divest certain energy-related securities.

Qualifications

You must have one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience (1) performing analytical research and assistance for the executive of an organization; (2) providing clerical and administrative support to senior management on a wide range of administrative issues and program objectives, such as strategic planning, communication, logistics, and personnel; and (3) coordinating with executive officials both internal and external to the organizations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including any volunteer experience.
