This position is located with Bonneville Power Administration, in the Corporate Safety (NFO) organization of the Safety Office (NF), Chief Administrative Office (N). A successful candidate in the Safety and Occupational Health Specialist position will is to provide high-level data and technical expertise for supporting the Occupational Safety and Health Programs, primarily the Medical Surveillance Program, the Ergonomics Program, and the Industrial Hygiene Program.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS GS-11: A qualified candidate's resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position is defined as: 1) Overseeing safety and occupational health programs for medical surveillance and industrial hygiene and applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements. 2) Provide data collection both qualitative and quantitative analysis of occupational safety related to medical surveillance in support of safety initiatives. Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows for the GS-11: Completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. -OR- Completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene) or a degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study form among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.-OR-Completion of an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled. GS-12: A qualified candidate's resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position is defined as: 1) Managing safety and occupational health programs for medical surveillance and industrial hygiene and applying safety and occupational health laws, regulations, principles, theories, practices and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements. 2) Provide data collection both qualitative and quantitative analysis of occupational safety related to medical surveillance in support of safety initiatives. There is no substitution of education for experience at the GS-12 level. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration.
