The incumbent of this position will serve as a Mental Health Specialist for the Lawton Indian Hospital, Lawton, OK. This position is supervised by the Supervisory Behavioral Health Program Specialist. **Restricted to current, permanent IHS employees within the Lawton Indian Hospital due to ceiling restrictions.**

Provides diagnostic, treatment, referral, crisis intervention, and consultation services Participates in scheduled case conference May conduct home visits when indicated for patient care Maintains all appropriate client records May provide continuing professional training to other mental health providers and clinic staff

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. For positions requiring positive education requirements, or if you are using education to meet all or part of the qualification requirements, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Degree: behavioral or social sciences; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR One year of specialized experience. Example of specialized experience is defined as: Providing diagnostic, treatment, referral, crisis intervention and consultation services for psychiatric patients in accordance with standards established by incumbents professional mental health organization. Selective Factor: Additionally, you must have one of the following current, valid licensure or be licensed eligible: Licensed Psychologist, licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C) (LCSW), licensed marital and family therapist (LMFT), licensed professional counselor (LPC) or licensed behavioral practitioner (LBC).You MUST provide a copy of your current, valid licensure or your show proof of licensure candidacy/eligibility or your application will be considered incomplete. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
