THIS IS AN INDIANA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This position is part of the IN 122nd Fighter Wing, Indiana National Guard under Position Description Number D1736P01. If you would like the complete list of duties, please contact the POC of this announcement.

Duties

Operates, analyzes performance, troubleshoots, inspects, installs, maintains, overhauls, repairs and modifies operational ordnance system(s) and subsystems. Analyzes performance and isolate malfunctions to individual subsystems and or components. Removes, repairs, installs, inspects and conducts operational performance checkout of aircraft ordnance and isolates malfunctions and identifies if failures are in specific LRU’s, aircraft weapons, etc. Loads/unloads, positions and safeties air munitions using applicable technical data and handling equipment. Conducts off-equipment troubleshooting and functional checks of electronic weapons control systems to ensure proper manual/electrical release and fire sequence. Ensures all munitions are inventoried at the start and completion of the work shift. Coordinates with loading standardization and the weapons element supervisor for all load crew-training requirements. Maintains and reviews publication files of applicable technical orders, regulations, manuals and local directives. Provides hands-on training instruction to lower graded personnel concerned with the repair of the electronic ordnance systems within the aircraft. May be delegated authority to clear Red X on aircraft forms May be required to inspect, troubleshoot, test and maintain the Aerial Gunnery Target System. Processes and accounts for due in from maintenance (DIFM) supply assets and ensure materials and equipment are properly stored. Adjusts, installs and removes cartridges and squibs for tanks and pylons and chaff/flare systems. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • This position is INDEFINITE NTE 24 months, with possible extension up to 60 months, and permanent potential.

Qualifications

MILITARY GRADES: E4 through E7 COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS: **AS LISTED IN REMARKS** The policy to have a compatible MOS/AFSC has been suspended. When reinstated, you will have one year to meet the qualifications of this position or meet the requirements in the guidance set by NGB. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's ability to repair malfunctions of ordnance equipment and components. Ability to use sketches, electrical diagrams, technical specifications and engineering drawings. Experience which demonstrates skill in the use of test equipment to make electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic checks. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training in planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair and installation of ordnance systems. Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedy where complex relationships exist. Experience in hand tools and a limited number of measuring equipment. Experience in the use of a variety of test equipment. Experience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams and manufacturer's specifications. Must have at least 12 months of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. **FWS POSITIONS ONLY**: Specialized Experience Requirements for NGB Federal Wage System Positions for claiming civilian job experience: Creditable experience must have been performed at least 30 consecutive days and be properly documented. Experience in the same line of work can only be credited on the basis of a regular 40-hour workweek. Hours per week MUST be documented on resume to receive any credit.
