About the Position: Join us at the United States Southern Command. We provide direct support to a four-star unified Combatant Commander, but are compact enough that our staff also works with senior leadership representatives of our inter-service, inter-agency and (public and private) international partner organizations. Our contribution to furthering our country's relationships with South and Central American nations and peoples are substantial.
Duties
Support USSOUTHCOM efforts to create a stable security environment throughout the area of responsibility (AOR).
Manage day to day expenditures to ensure accurate budget forecasts.
Serve as the primary advisor to the Chief, Joint Engagement Visitors Bureau (JEVB) to comply with all current rules and regulations.
Brief Conference Center of the America (CCA) plans and programs to senior leadership of command.
Task assignment to subordinates for Conference Center of the America (CCA) event coordination.
Provide protocol/conference guidance and support within the Command’s area of responsibility (AOR).
Plan all protocol aspects of high ranking US and foreign dignitaries visiting the Command.
Manage the Conference Center of the America (CCA) long rang strategic planning efforts.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires travel away from the duty station up to 25% of the time.
- This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing.
- Incumbent must be able to pass the Spanish Foreign Language Proficiency Test at a minimum of a 2+/2+ level.
- Incumbent must pass a medical examination and receive required immunizations for the overseas/deployed location.
- Employee will sign a statement agreeing to the E-E condition of employment. Position will be designated Emergency Essential (E-E) in support of mobilization and wartime mission.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience 1) Providing solutions to complex sensitive issues across divergent cultures. 2) Using protocol practices and techniques of communication. 3) Conducting official functions to communicate with high level personnel and resolve controversial situations. 4) Managing conference planning and support. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).
