Duties

In this position, you will serve as an expert analyst and advisor to senior management, with a primary function of applying an in-depth knowledge of computer theory, algorithms, data structures, programming concepts and languages, and computer architecture, to support business lines throughout the Office of Human Resources Management. This position starts at a salary of $122,198.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $158,860.00 (GS-14, Step 10) Typical duties include: Serving as an expert analyst and advisor to senior management, with a primary function of applying an in-depth knowledge of computer theory, algorithms, data structures, programming concepts and languages, and computer architecture, to support business lines throughout HRM. Applying the theoretical foundations of computer science, including computer system architecture and system software organization, the representation and transformation of information structures, and the theoretical models for such representations and transformations to develop solutions for HRM senior leadership. Overseeing data security, performance optimization, and ensuring data integrity with database management systems such as MySQL or SQL Server. Designing and developing software solutions for complex problems including, but not limited to, algorithms, applications, and databases. Analyzing and troubleshooting software issues and identifying root causes to resolve them. Conducting research on new technologies, software frameworks, and development tools, and recommending the adoption of the best solutions for the organization. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver quality software products that meet customer needs and requirements.

Qualifications

Basic Requirement: You must provide supporting documentation in your application to show you meet the basic requirement below. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science OR Bachelor's Degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Designing, implementing, and maintaining database systems that support the organization's data management needs. Analyzing complex problems related to algorithms, applications, and databases and identifying root causes to resolve them. Developing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders and communicating effectively to gather requirements and explain technical concepts.
