This position is located in the Facilities Management Service Department at the Whiteriver Service Unit, in Whiteriver, Arizona. This position serves as the Utility Systems Repairer-Operator Supervisor. The incumbent will serve as the Supervisor over the Plant Operations/Utility Systems Section and will supervise workers in various trades including Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic, Maintenance Mechanic, Maintenance Worker, Electrician, and Utility Systems Repairer-Operator.

Duties

Plans weekly or monthly work and shift schedules and sequence of operations for employees. Establishes deadlines and priorities on basis of work schedules, methods and policies established by higher levels of supervision. Utilizes a computerized maintenance management database to track all work orders, tasks (e.g. PM's) and equipment. Explains and demonstrates work requirements, methods, and procedures and instructs employees in new procedures, and provides advice. Schedules and approves leave of employees. Sets performance requirements and makes formal performance appraisals. Periodically reviews Job Descriptions of subordinates for currency and accuracy; reports detailing of employees to jobs other that their own; initiates or participates in review and improving of work methods.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates for this position will be evaluated under the federal wage system job grading standards. No specific length of experience is required. Applicants will be rated on their knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position. FOR WS-10 GRADE LEVEL: Complex industrial/commercial process operations or power plant operations, including performing set-ups and adjustments required to produce results conforming to design specifications; document log-taking and interpretation of logged values for the purpose of conducting trend analysis, and determining compliance to specifications or determining overall operational efficiency of the process or system; understand and troubleshoot electronics/controls systems and determine suitable repair parts meeting system design specifications OR mechanical experience in tear-down, cleaning, and inspection of operating parts for wear/damage, and making recommendations for and/or performing change-out of these parts; perform renovations such as: commercial construction; skilled in: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, locksmith and welding trades; respond to frequent changes in instructions, with respect to the team, project and/or task adhere to a schedule to perform preventive maintenance work and inspection and maintain complete records of work completed use and maintain a variety of electrical, carpentry, painting and plumbing equipment, hand and motorized. Screen-Out Element: Supervised utility systems repairer-operators and/or maintenance crew in the line of work in a maintenance department in a commercial, industrial, or institution setting; made work assignments according to individual abilities and scheduled workflow; estimated time and materials; and provided formal or informal training to members of the crew. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
