You will serve as a Supervisor Industrial Specialist (SHIPBUILDING) in the Waterfront Operations Department of SOUTHEAST REG MAINTENANCE CTR SERMC.
Duties
You will provide advice/counsel to employees on matters involving maintenance of assigned ships, technical adequacy, work quality, and response to day-to-day requirements.
You will interview and select for staff, Ship Building Specialists, and supervisory positions within the department.
You will Identify and provide necessary developmental training.
You will evaluate work performance of subordinates.
You will manage depot level work to include work validation, planning, budgeting, and execution of the principle work product.
You will serve as the surface ship maintenance expert to participate in process improvement initiatives, manage Maintenance Teams, assist with Maintenance and Modernization business Plan, resolve conflicts, and initiative procurement of material.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will may be required to perform infrequent occasional sea duty on ships and crafts during sea trials.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- This position may require exposure to high noise levels, high temperature levels, adverse weather conditions and strong odors or fumes.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience identifying and solving problems associated with the introduction and adaptation of new concepts and innovative approaches to the management of ship maintenance.
Experience demonstrating technical expertise in the area of surface ship maintenance capable to evaluate the effectiveness of major overhaul and maintenance management approaches in terms of cost and mission accomplishment.
Experience developing and implementing detailed business plans, planning/production schedules, advance production material identification and procurement, funding acquisition/control and development of comprehensive repair work packages for the accomplishment of multi-million dollar ship overhauls in the private industrial sector.
