You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH MANAGER of NAVAL POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL.

Duties

You will apply techniques and measures used to identify hazards. You will conduct independent safety inspections of complex workplaces including laboratories, shops, and offices to identify and evaluate hazards and establish risk potential. You will perform mishap investigations, and analyzing accident and injury reports, studying data to discover trends and mishap causes, to develop recommendations for eliminating or controlling the hazards. You will revise and draft instructions, standard operating procedures, work processes, and conduct job hazard analyses. You will provide instructions covering a variety of standard, general safety and occupational health subjects including mishap prevention and safe working practices.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying techniques and measures used to identify hazards; 2) Conducting independent safety inspections of complex workplaces including laboratories, shops, and offices to identify and evaluate hazards and establish risk potential; 3) Performing mishap investigations, and analyzing accident and injury reports, studying data to discover trends and mishap causes, to develop recommendations for eliminating or controlling the hazards; 4) Revising and drafting instructions, standard operating procedures, work processes, and conduct job hazard analyses; and 5) Providing instructions covering a variety of standard, general safety and occupational health subjects including mishap prevention and safe working practices.
