This vacancy is for a Survey Clerk (OA) position with the Department of Commerce, located at multiple U.S. Census Bureau Regional Offices.
This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Survey Clerk (OA), GS-0303-05, FPL-05 positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
Duties
Coordinate a variety of tasks required in the collection, control, field review and report statistical data obtained in a major survey or combination of surveys.
Provide technical assistance to field staff by using automated tools including addresses and/or respondent search through the internet or other search applications including mapping software.
Perform automated searches for case status, documentation for case outcomes, and following up with field staff on missing or inadequate case information.
Establish working relationships with all levels of management external parties, and stakeholders.

- This is a Term Appointment; initial appointment is not to exceed 2 years. This appointment may be extended 2 additional years at management’s discretion.
- The work schedule for this position is Mixed Tour. With a Mixed Tour work schedule, an employee may be changed between full-time, part-time and intermittent work schedules to accommodate fluctuating workloads and is subject to a signed agreement.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirement: To be minimally qualified for this position you MUST have a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute with three or fewer errors in a five-minute writing sample.
AND
Specialized Experience: For the GS-05, you must have one year if experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes:
Experience for this position includes providing office support to a staff and performing clerical duties such as, mass mailings, file system management, telephone monitoring, and maintain program forms and office files; maintaining survey materials, control files, computing ratios, and preparing computerized reports; using Google search or similar search engines, MapQuest or applications similar to YellowPages.com, Fast Data and Yahoo, using databases such as Access or Excel, conducting searches on specific data elements, reviewing case outcomes, and determining if adequate information is provided or if additional follow up is needed; or working and dealing with multiple customer demands in a professional environment.

Education: 4 years education above high school.
Note: Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels and positions for which both education and experience are acceptable.
