About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is with the United States Army Signal Activity (USASA) located at Camp Roberts, California.
Duties
Serve as a Telecommunication Specialist responsible to the Commander, United States Army Signal Activity (USASA) Camp Roberts, 302d Signal Battalion.
Perform troubleshooting and provides technical direction to ensure timely restoration of optimal telecommunications services.
Ensure personnel comply with regulatory, doctrinal, procedural, and best practice initiatives in troubleshooting and restoration of telecommunications services and systems.
Perform maintenance, provides technical direction, and performs QA/QC involving highly complex and technical issues while working with personnel located in different functional areas and organizations at various echelons.
Provide positive control of repair parts and access to repair parts for all maintenance activities.
Instruct formal and informal classes, as required, effectively performing as an instructor/facilitator/mentor in a variety of learning settings.
Evaluate training deficiencies or deviations from prescribed doctrine and presents innovative solutions and/or corrective actions.
Ensure all Emergency Restoral Plans are kept current and can be implemented.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
- This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
- This position may require up to 20 percent of temporary duty travel.
- This position is designated as Non-Critical Sensitive. A SECRET clearance with SECRET access is required

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by recommending methods for enhancing the efficiency of complex telecommunication systems; providing innovative solutions for resolving problems associated with telecommunication networks and technology; identifying and arranging telecommunication systems training needs for personnel; and maintaining various telecommunications equipment.
