There is a vacancy for an attorney to serve as Assistant Counsel, Navy Recruiting Command (NRC), Millington, Tennessee. This is a newly established position, located aboard Naval Support Activity, Millington, Tennessee. NRC is charged with the responsibility to attract, influence, and hire the highest quality candidates from America's diverse talent pool. NRC has three subordinate Region Command's, 26 Navy Talent Acquisition Groups (NTAGs), 5 Reserve Talent Acquisition Groups (RTAGs), and one Navy Orientation Recruiting Unit (NORU). NRC has a critical mission of providing support for over 1,330 recruiting stations around the world with a workforce of 6115 uniformed personnel, including recruiters, 746 support staff which includes 608 Federal Employee positions, which are located in all 50 states and also in Guam, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Japan, Italy, and Germany. The major responsibilities for this position include serving as assistant to the command counsel in providing legal advice and guidance in the full range of OGC areas of practice to support the DON's recruiting mission, including supporting and securing DON interests in administrative and other litigation, including federal court litigation. NRC is an Echelon III command currently led by a two-star Admiral. The Assistant Counsel provides the full spectrum of legal advice to the NRC staff and subordinate activities. This position is part of the Office of the Assistant General Counsel, Manpower and Reserve Affairs (OGC, M&RA) and Office of Counsel, Naval Education and Training Command (NETC). The position will report to the Counsel, NRC, who is under the supervision of Counsel, NETC. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to provide advice and representation in the areas of standards of conduct/government ethics, litigation, contracts, civilian personnel law, fiscal law, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) /Privacy Act, legislation, and administrative law, including administrative investigations.
