The incumbent will be required to obtain and maintain Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Maintenance Diving Certification within two-years of entrance on duty. All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-07/09/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. For current Federal employees, if hours worked per week are not included on your resume, you must submit a non-award SF-50 for each federal position listed as part of your application to be used to validate your work schedule and determine the amount of qualifying experience that you will be granted. An award SF-50 will not be acceptable documentation for which to consider your amount of qualifying experience. For all other applicants who are not current federal employees, your resume must state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. SELECTIVE FACTOR: This position performs work in and underwater, and Advanced Open Water SCUBA Certification or equivalent from an accredited national institute with a minimum of 25 logged scientific and/or commercial dives is required. You must submit copies of certification cards and dive logs displaying complete information for each dive to demonstrate that you meet this requirement. You must submit documentation of how you meet this requirement, such as photocopies of certifications and descriptions of experience in your resume. Candidates who do not meet this requirement by close of this announcement will receive no further consideration for this position. - AND - In addition to the Selective Placement Factors listed above, to qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must also possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: 1) Research activity or control program work; 2) Nursery work that required the growing and maintenance of plants in a controlled environment; or 3) Work comparable to that with a large dairy farm where production records, animal environment, and sanitary conditions were kept in accordance with modern dairy practice. You must include hours per week worked. NOTE: Farming experience that was not performed in a controlled environment, or experience as a laborer who was not responsible for planning and scheduling his/her own work, but only performed assigned tasks, would not qualify as specialized experience. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in any combination of scientific or technical courses such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. To compute this percentage, first divide the total months of qualifying experience by 12.
