About the Position: This position is located at Fort Polk, Louisiana. The surrounding community is comprised of the towns of Leesville, DeRidder, New Llano, & Anacoco. Duties

Perform on-site vulnerability and threat assessments. Monitor and periodically review force protection training plans. Monitor and evaluate installation access control processes and procedures. Plan, formulate, and coordinate all matters pertaining to the protection and security of personnel, property, and material against terrorists, criminals, and hostile element threats. Develop installation supplements on force protection, physical security, crime prevention, and antiterrorism. Collect and analyze force protection and physical security requirements from subordinate units and organizations for the security of personnel, facilities, equipment, and other mission essential/vulnerable activities (MEVA). Brief top-level management or commander of newly written installation plans and application of new Army policies. Communicate effectively and efficiently, both orally and in writing, to prepare and publish detailed and specific guidance.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. The position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • You may be required to work overtime, nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • You may be subject to immediate recall and extended hours during emergencies.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPED Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work that involves 1) analyzing the applicability of physical security, crime prevention, and antiterrorism/force protection regulations, policies, and guidelines; 2) work interpreting security regulations, safeguarding critical information, equipment, and facilities; 3) reviewing existing security programs in meeting current mission guidelines, and implementing current security guidance directed from higher level commands; 4) coordinating physical security program policies with requirements of other security programs; 5) monitoring and maintaining physical security equipment used to detect theft, sabotage, and intrusion to buildings, facilities, and grounds; 6) experience planning, distributing and monitoring work assignments of others.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
