The Kennan Institute of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars was founded in 1974 to carry out studies of the Soviet Union (Sovietology), and subsequently of post-Soviet Russia and other post-Soviet states. The institute is widely regarded as the foremost institute for advanced Russia studies in the United States.
Duties
Conducts research on Russian, Ukrainian, Eurasian, and related topics as required for the planning and coordination of programmatic activities
Stays current on developments in Russia, Ukraine, Eurasia and U.S. policies in the region through researching and fact checking information
Identifies and recommends appropriate speakers for public events
Produces meeting reports
Edits production of the program’s publications and papers
Develops, edits and co-authors articles to be published on the Internet and for Wilson Center publications in English and a foreign language
Prepares and edits correspondence for the director and other senior Wilson Center staff
Responds to and schedules media inquiries and coordinates interviews for the director and scholars
Provides financial oversight support to include budget preparation and review utilizing financial software programs
Maintains and executes purchase orders, honoraria, contracts, and payments in consultation with the Program Director
Works on logistical aspects of conferences, meetings, and other program events, including travel, with internal and external stakeholders to include partner organizations
Manages the program’s public website, (including the development of its content); and social media platforms on a daily basis to ensure that they reflect up-to-date information about programmatic initiatives
Assists with the coordination of the administration of outreach strategies and internal and external outreach initiatives affiliated with the program

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience for the respective grade level in which you are applying:
Specialized Experience:to qualify you must have at least one (1) year of specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following types of duties:
• Experience working in an organization involved with politics, economics, history, culture, public policy, and related issues more broadly to identify, analyze, and recommend solutions to programmatic research initiatives related to Russian, Ukrainian, Eurasian, and related topics;• Experience performing research utilizing methods, practices and demonstrating skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques to produce written programmatic materials for publication;• Assisting with partnerships and program’s public initiatives for public and private events;• Assisting with publicizing and managing program events;• Assisting with writing/preparing grant proposals/fundraising initiatives;• Experience applying knowledge of grammar, punctuation, spelling, including the ability to proofread and copyedit material for publication;
Education:
To qualify based on education, you must possess a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related to the position.
