This position is located in the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Employment and Training Administration (ETA), Office of Unemployment Insurance (OUI). This position is outside the bargaining unit.

Duties

Major duties for this position are listed below: Manages, directs, and supervises a group of staff assistants who provide administrative to support to OUI's four divisions. Analyzes issues, goals, and initiatives. Recommends options during exploratory and formative stages of managerial planning and policy formulation. Providing technical assistance and guidance to Division Directors on preparation coordination and administrative processing of actions. Manages the tracking and routing of all office correspondence, policy guidance, Office of Inspector General responses, General Accounting Office responses, and all other documents requiring clearance through established processes. Develops or assists in the development of courses or plans of action for accomplishing such assignments. Advises the executive and key staff on the uses and limitations of the array of available administrative management techniques and the probable consequences of possible choices and decisions. Participates actively with the executive and their key staff in significant management planning, policy and decision-making sessions.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Candidate required to obtain the necessary security/investigation level.
  • Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.
  • Subject to financial disclosure requirements.
  • Requires a supervisory probationary period if the requirement has not been met.

Qualifications

Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-12, in the Federal Service. Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Specialized experience for this position includes all of the following: 1. Interpreting and analyzing administrative policies or procedures, and providing recommendations to improve program efficiency. 2. Managing and monitoring projects and/or administrative action plans to ensure timely completion. 3. Advising leadership on administrative matters; and 4. Using office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Edge, etc.) and any information management or document tracking system.
