This position is locate in the Engineering department at the WNY-Buffalo location.

Duties

Duties include, but not limited to: Independently plans and completes projects which involve troubleshooting, testing, loading new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems and associated controls and equipment related to the secondary power distribution system. Performs all work in accordance with the National Electrical Code an NFPA 70E Repairs and install lighting and lighting control. Installs, tests and maintain various low voltage control systems. Installs, bends,creates raceways to support repairs or installations. Use of emt, rigid, flex and working knowledge of installation practices and bending techniques. Sets up and operates hand and power tools, benders, porta bands, drill motors and supporting trade related equipment. Uses various fasteners such as nails, screws, bonding materials, specialized anchors, concrete anchors and other trade related tasks without spalling or damage. Plans, measures, and lays out electrical materials using advanced mathematics for amperage loading, overprotection and conduit fill Has a complete understanding of the NEC and its tables and recommendations to ensure compliant electrical installations. Has the ability to understand switch orders, isolation, identify potential back-feeds as part of isolation, visible opens as part of high voltage switching. Understands and implements extremely technical testing and measuring equipment utilized in high voltage measurements and maintenance techniques to support industry standards for safety and compliance. Performs standards and techniques to adequately ground and isolate high voltage electrical equipment at voltages of 4160 & 23,000. Perform other assign duties. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: The incumbent must be in good physical condition as his/her work involves climbing, work on ladders, and scaffolding, bending conduits which requires muscular effort and working in confined areas necessitating unusual working conditions. The electrician frequently lifts, carries, and sets up tools, equipment and parts that weigh up to 20 pounds. Occasionally the electrician may lift and carry items that weigh over 20 pounds.
