About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities.

Duties

Assist in communication with and marketing efforts of field force Prepare and tracks Officer Evaluation Reports (OERs) for approximately 400 Army Reserve officers. Monitor submission of reports and ensure completeness and conformity with applicable regulations. Process personnel actions of program members including gain and losses and accuracy of forms such as Record of Individual Performance of Reserve Duty Training, Retirement forms, etc. Coordinate arrangements for attendance of the annual Liaison Officer conference, including travel, facilities, information packets, etc. Perform a variety of clerical tasks such as correspondence with field force members, preparing and processing mailings to field force members. Track the status of candidates in the medical qualification system and facilitate the medical waiver process through direct communication with Keller Army Community Hospital (KACH). Assist the field force in their marketing efforts, publicizing events and obtaining marketing materials. Act as a liaison between the field force and the Marketing Officer/section.

Requirements

Current Civilian Employees of the Organization In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) performing administrative duties in support of recruiting students; 2) preparing reports to support the admissions process; and 3) assisting with marketing efforts to provide communication regarding programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Administration and ManagementClericalOral Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
