This position is located at US Mint,Headquarters-Office of the Dir/Chief Admin Off/Office of Corp Comm/Media and Public Relations Team. As a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist, you will be assisting the Chief of Public Affairs (Chief) in performing public liaison work for the Mint for all coin programs and in providing advice to the Director and Deputy Director of the Mint and the entire senior leadership team on issues likely to be covered by the news media.
Duties
As a Supervisory Public Affairs Specialist, you will:
Direct and propel progress on Mint Strategic Plan, including leading and managing teams to ensure on-time execution of plans.
Provide assistance and consultation to management and other public affairs personnel on formulating communication practices to initiate and maintain positive contact with the news media, general public, specialized groups, and community and governmental entities.
Direct press conferences, ceremonies, tours, and other activities intended to develop interest in Mint programs.
Communicate the agency's programs, policies, products, and activities to senior managers, front line leaders, and employees.
Provide direction to field site public affairs staff in dealing with the news media, general public, specialized groups, and community and governmental entities.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Specialized Experience:
Specialized experience for the GS-14 is one year of experience at the GS-13 level or equivalent in either public or private sectors, that is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as:
- Planning, designing, developing, and disseminating public affairs information and materials to inform and educate the public about Agency/Organization programs; AND
- Overseeing the handling of public and media inquiries, executive communications, internal communications, website operations, and education outreach; AND
- Leading a staff and/or team in a range of various public affairs endeavors.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14 you must have been at the GS-13level for 52 weeks.
