The primary purpose of this position is to provide registration and eligibility services which are the key points of interaction with patients to obtain and process demographic and insurance information for alternate resources, Purchased Referred Care Services, and private and commercial insurance.
This position is located at the Chinle Service Unit, Chinle Comprehensive Healthcare Facility, Administrative Services, Business Office, Chinle, Arizona.
Duties
NOTE: This position is being announced concurrently with announcement IHS-24-CH-12449806-ESEP/MP for candidates at the GS-06 level, please review vacancy announcement for eligibility requirements. Applicants must apply separately for each announcement in order to be considered for each grade level.
Interview patients and/or family members to obtain pertinent and accurate patient registration information.
Enters data into the patient database records management system.
Checks in patients using current scheduling systems.
Maintain, key-enters, and updates alternate resource data necessary for accurate billing.
Verifies eligibility by contacting various entities
Works with Contact Representative in obtaining pre-screens and/or applications.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
GS-04: One year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled at the GS-04 level.
GS-05: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level that equipped me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialize experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Examples include but are not limited to: interview patients and/or family members to obtain pertinent and accurate patient registration information; check in patients using current scheduling system or software; completes data entry; maintain, verifies, key-enters, and updates alternate resource data; verifies eligibility by contacting various entities; works with Contact Representative in obtaining pre-screens and/or applications.
SUBSTITUTING EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE:
GS-04: 2 years of education above the high school level.
GS-05: 4 years of education above the high school level.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
